Student Experiences in Hamburg
See it. Understand it. Be part of it.
Students don’t just want to walk around a city — they want to experience it.
Our tours and workshops give students a deeper understanding of Hamburg’s culture, history, and social realities through street art, activism, and real neighbourhood stories. These experiences encourage creativity, critical thinking, and discussion — while being engaging, fun, and memorable.
We offer three tailored options for school and university groups:
1️⃣ Alternative Street Art Tour
Explore Hamburg’s alternative side through epic street art, bold graffiti, colourful neighbourhoods, and hidden creative spaces.
Students will:
● Discover massive murals and politically charged artworks
● Learn how graffiti and street art reflect social and cultural change
● Hear stories about protests, counterculture, and gentrification
● Visit reclaimed bunkers, secret courtyards, urban gardens, and creative hubs
● Experience the city like locals — not tourists
This tour connects art with history, identity, and civic engagement in a way that feels real and relevant.
2️⃣ Street Art Tour + Workshop
Go beyond observing — and become part of the scene.
In addition to the Alternative Street Art Tour, students take part in a hands-on graffiti workshop led by experienced artists.
Students will:
● Learn the basics of street art and graffiti styles and techniques
● Plan and develop their own creative concept
● Understand stencil making, spray can techniques, colour blending, and unique mark making methods.
● Create their own artwork to take home
This option combines education with creativity.
Students don’t just learn about street art — they think and create like artists.
3️⃣ St. Pauli Kiez Tour – Reality Check
An honest look at one of Hamburg’s most famous districts without the sleaze and party atmosphere. Students explore the social and political realities of St. Pauli beyond the nightlife reputation.
Topics include:
● Housing struggles and gentrification
● Migration and social change
● Homelessness and urban pressure
● Community resistance and activism
● Street art as political expression
This tour encourages discussion about urban development, inequality, and community identity — in a thoughtful and age-appropriate way.

Our teenagers have created their own 'piece'. Great excitement! Great fun! Experimented with color and structure and created a few very nice pieces. And: That works very well in winter! Let the course instructor Adrian show you why;). Thank you and gladly again! Claudia Frank Feb 9, 2026
